What graphics API do you support?
We support Direct3D and OpenGL. We do not support Glide.

Does Warcraft III require a 3D accelerator?
Yes.

What are the supported screen resolutions? Since it's a 3D rendered environment, does the resolution go beyond 1024 x 768?
Yes, we support multiple screen resolutions. We support most resolutions that are in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Are environmental and 3D positional sounds supported?
We support environmental sounds. 3D sounds don't make as much sense with our chosen in-game camera view, so we don't support 3D sounds.

Does the game take advantage of 3D cards several generations ahead of the most advanced ones out at the time of release?
We built graphic scalability into the game so that Warcraft III can look as good as possible on whatever video card is used.

Does Warcraft III have a Client/Server Model?
No. Due to the amount of units and the number of players in a game of Warcraft III, it is not possible to implement a straight Client/Server architecture as in Diablo II. We are using a variation of the peer-to-peer model that allows us to eliminate some of the abuses found in StarCraft games.

Are Modem/IPX games supported?
We support the TCP/IP protocol, which still allows modem users to directly connect through their ISP.

Can players play direct TCP/IP?
No.

Does Warcraft III have different playing speeds?
Yes, they function in a manner similar to StarCraft.

Does Warcraft III include an Observation Mode?
Yes.

Does Warcraft III include game recording or replays?
Yes. We feel that there is so much to be learned from watching great games and skilled players that a record feature is well worth the effort.

Is there a Built-in Sound Editor as in Warcraft II?
Yes.

Does Warcraft III have Built-in voice communication software?
No.

Are there any new locations featured in Warcraft III?
We were able to expand the world of Warcraft within the campaign. For example, players can travel to a new continent that is the homeland of the Night Elves.

Are there indoor maps?
Yes. They are similar to the Installation tileset in StarCraft. You cannot build towns on the tileset. They are primarily used in Single Player.

Are there different difficulty levels for Single Player?
There are difficulty levels in single player. You are able to replay any level at a tougher or easier level after you complete or lose it.

Do you have weather effects in the game such as rain and snow? Do they have any effect on the units?
We have weather effects in the game, but they do not affect the game play in any way.

How does the terrain affect combat?
Units on high ground will have a combat advantage over units on lower elevations.

Are formations possible or just cluster grouping?
Units automatically fall into formation when you group select them. This way, units can stay together and not be spread out across the map as they move.

Are the maps features revealed at the start of the game?
By default there is no black mask in Multiplayer games, but the game creator can toggle this on or off. Single player levels start with black mask on.
