The Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Season One Ladder Contest will begin on October 12, 2004. The preliminary Gateway competition rounds for both solo and 2v2 competition will be in a best-of-1 single elimination format. From the Quarter-Finals onwards (for 1v1) and the Semi-Finals onwards (for 2v2) the format will change to a best 2-out-of-3 single elimination. All rounds of the Overall Battle.net competition will be in a best 2-out-of-3 single elimination format. Unfortunately, due to the very large number of games scheduled in the early rounds of the competition we will not be able to accomodate any schedule changes for the Gateway competitions. However, there will be some flexibility for the Overall Battle.Net Champion competitions.
The maps to be played for all best-of-1 games is pre-determined and can be found on the schedule of events below. Best 2-out-of-3 rounds will begin with a pre-determined map. The losing player or team may then select their choice of map from the map pool for the second game. Should a tiebreaker round be needed, the loser of the second game may select their choice from the map pool. The same maps may be chosen more than once.
