World of Warcraft Update - Deeprun Tram Transport Thursday, September 16, 2004 |
 | |
The gnomes have certainly been busy! When the latest patch arrives, so too does the latest transportation method: the Deeprun Tram!
In the aftermath of the Second War, the humans of Stormwind began the grueling task of rebuilding the war-torn lands surrounding their battered kingdom. In those days, the bonds of brotherhood that cradled the Alliance were still at their strongest, and the dwarves of Ironforge were quick to lend aid to their human allies. King Magni Bronzebeard was frustrated, however, at the sluggish pace with which his country's aid was being delivered to Stormwind, and eager as well to establish a means of reinforcing the human kingdom with dwarven soldiers should the need arise. To address these two concerns, King Bronzebeard turned to Azeroth's most esteemed engineer, High Tinker Mekkatorque, who immediately began drafting designs for a grand subterranean railway system that would link Stormwind and Ironforge. Today, his vision has become reality, and the newly-built Deeprun Tram has developed into an indispensable link between the two great capitals, providing swift and safe transportation for thousands of their citizens, and bolstering military cooperation between the armies of these two proud Alliance strongholds.
With the latest in gnomish technology, travel between the two mighty Alliance cities will be faster than ever. Learn more and see screenshots on our updated Public Transportation Page.

Warcraft III Accounts Closed Tuesday, September 14, 2004 |
 | |
A number of additional accounts and CD keys have been tied to the use of a hack or cheat program while playing Warcraft III on Battle.net.
In keeping with our aggressive stance against cheating, we have permanently closed 7,400 Warcraft III accounts. 3,500 of the
Warcraft III CD keys used with the now-closed accounts have been banned from ladder play for one month, and 1,000 more have been
banned from ladder play permanently. Repeat offenders risk having their CD keys disabled, which will result in the permanent
removal of their copies of Warcraft III from Battle.net.
We will continue to monitor Battle.net for cheating and take action as needed. If you would like to report additional instances of
hacking or cheating, please notify us at hacks@blizzard.com. A false report filed by one player against another will not result in
the actions described above.
As always, thank you for your continued support; with your help we have been able to keep Battle.net a fun and safe place to play
Blizzard games.
